It was a patchy week of rides – stopping, starting, stopping – that ended with needing to have my bike bolt-cuttered off a fence. Thank you, nice man from Bicycle Junction! Monday Worked at home today, so there was no morning ride today; however there was a rushed lunchtime ride through town into a hard grey wind, eyes streaming, then back home up the hills.
I’ve loved your outbursts of expletives and giving deserving drivers the fingers and scowls, and felt a bit envious of your, shall we say, emotional generosity. This outburst was next-level; very real. I feel honoured and privileged to have read it. And grateful. I feel more human and open-hearted and reflective. They seem related (the various outbursts), and overall healthy, on balance, in spite of the extremes of scale. Like you wouldn’t get one without the other, and having neither would be poverty, frightening as the recent extreme doubtless was. Having shared your experience, as reader, I think now I’ll be kinder to myself and others - but not necessarily to obnoxious motorists.
